Overall employment of construction equipment operators is projected to grow 5 percent from 2021 to 2031, about as fast as the average for all occupations. There will be an estimated 50,000 equipment operator openings across the country over the next decade, due mostly to veteran workers retiring coupled with plans to increase government spending on infrastructure.
